The Dismal “Science”

Economics “is at Last a Science” – Mark Thoma at Economist’s View reviews an article by Guy Sorman, “Economics Does Not Lie” in City Journal. The article itself is the usual ideological pablum that economics now uses fancy math and is therefore scientific and by the way it “proves” that free market capitalism is best. But the responses are worth reading and can be summed up in James Batten’ words:

“This article is a parody of itself. If you needed any further proof that economics is not a science and that many economists apparently don’t even understand what science is, this is it.”
